FAQ

I'm having a baby soon and would like to schedule a newborn session. What should I know?

Contact me as soon as you can- I will get your name on my calendar by your due date (which reserves your session) and then have you contact me when baby arrives to book the actual date of your session. Newborn sessions should be done sometime in the first ten days after birth. This is when they sleep the most, and still have their amazing flexibility which allow for those adorable positions. However, if we happen to miss that window, don't worry. I am very comfortable working with newborns, and dedicate much of my training in this area. Newborn sessions are special in that they are usually a little bit longer. I always plan on taking mommy breaks for feeding, changing, and snuggling; So rest assured knowing that I plan that in. Also, newborns LOVE heat, so be prepared for a very warm environment and white noise to help them sleep.

How should I dress my family?

Any neutral colors with a pop of color are great: whites, blacks, grays, browns etc. The only big rule is to stay away from logo printed tees or garments. Dress shirts with jeans are fantastic. For family sessions, it's good to have a similar color on everyone. You don't want to "match" but to "go" together. Pinterest has some wonderful ideas for Family Session apparels. Feel free to bring changes of clothes if there is a spot to change. (ask me ahead of time)

I am worried about my children behaving...

I get this question a lot… so let me calm your worries. It is rare that I have a session where all the children behave perfectly. So cut yourself (and them) some slack. The business of photographing children and families means going with the flow, and sometimes letting them run the show. Some children get shy in front of the camera, and the best thing to do is to get them to think about something else, and forget about me. The mommies and daddies can be my biggest asset by helping with this. Keeping snacks/water nearby is a great idea. I very rarely ask children to "Smile at the camera" or "Say Cheese" as these normally do not bring about the desired true smiles. I instead make them feel comfortable and the moments always just happen. The best thing a parent can do is just step back and let their children connect with me.

How soon should I expect my photos?

I make it a priority to edit as soon as possible, and upload your personalized online viewing album with download links within 2 weeks of the shoot depending on my workload. I will upload a Sneak Peek (with your permission) to my Facebook page within a few days after your session.

What happens if the weather less than ideal for my session?

If the weather is bad, we can absolutely reschedule. This is New Jersey after all, and being flexible with the weather is a huge part of my planning. I do the best I can to stay on top of the weather and I will contact you if I feel like there is a chance of bad weather. That being said, cloudy is actually wonderful for portraits. The hard part comes in if it is raining.

What kind of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, checks, Venmo or Chase Quickpay. In order to secure your date, payment in full is due at time of booking.
